... for a time, Bethany and I both lived on the same street in Jersey City. we would get together and play her songs and mine at each other's homes. This day, we scooted up to her rooftop and I happened to have my minidisc recorder ( you can hear it reeling throughout the song- a definate flaw in minidisc technology) We didn't plan on writing a song right then and there, but on such a beautiful day, with NYC's skyline smiling directly at you, these are the moments that make one love music. In the line referring to the "corner office highrise" we were talking about the Twin Towers. They were a constant presence and treasure in J.C. (of course you can see them from many miles away, but when those many miles come so close... it was cool.) I think this is as fresh as you can get when it comes to hearing a song conceptualized. The things we're singing about can be heard in the background. Its a true captured moment.
